Ingelise Saunders
Born 1949, MPh, BSc

Mrs Saunders started her career as a medical representative then sales manager for Ferrosan A/S, followed by positions as sales manager at Schering Plough and Marketing Director at Glaxo A/S. Mrs Saunders joined Novo Farmaka A/S in Danmark in 1986 as General Manager.

In 1992, Saunders transferred to Novo Nordisk head office as vice president of International Operations, with overall responsibility for the Nordic area and Benelux countries. She has moved throughout Novo Nordisk, working in Project Development, Business Development, Health Care Strategy and becoming President of the Pharmaceuticals Division.

Her last position at Novo Nordisk was as Managing Director, Ireland/UK and Vice President of Novo Nordisk Europe, this involved restructuring the UK and Ireland business area and introducing a more business focused culture.

In September 2001, Mrs Saunders joined the Celltech Group as Director of European Operations, with overall responsibility for the management of the European operating companies and development of organisational capabilities within Europe.

In March 2002, Mrs Saunders was appointed CEO of Celltech Pharmaceuticals, her responsibilities being the global commercial operations for Celltech driving the future development and direction of the pharmaceutical business.

Following the acquisition of Celltech by UCB Mrs Saunders returned to Denmark after 7 years in UK to take up the position of CEO at ACE BioSciences A/S.
