Henrik Lawaetz
Born 1955, MD, MFPM, E*MBA (SIMI), Partner and Managing Director

Lawaetz comes from the position of Managing Director and Founder of Medicon Valley Capital, which he established in January 2000.

Lawaetz is a Medical Doctor (1981 University of Copenhagen) specialized in pharmaceutical medicine at the University of Wales (MFPM in 1991 in the UK) and holds an Executive MBA from SIMI (Scandinavian International Management Institute in Copenhagen).

From 1981 to 1987, Lawaetz was a hospital physician, mainly in internal medicine in Denmark and Sweden. In 1984 he established the first company in Denmark in the field of preventive health examinations and care (LTC – Lægernes Test Center) and acted as its part-time CEO until 1990. Lawaetz has since been Chairman of the Board of this company.

From 1987 to 1988, Lawaetz established a clinical research unit for G. D. Searle Inc. in Denmark. Between 1988 and 1990, he established and developed the Danish clinical research unit at Pharmacia in the position of Medical Doctor. Between 1990 and 1995 he was Medical Doctor at Novo Nordisk A/S, initially in International Medical Affairs and later heading the Clinical Development Department at the Pharmaceutical Division.

Between 1995 and 1999 Lawaetz was CEO of CCBR (Center for Clinical and Basic Research) in Denmark, with more than 100 employees, including scientists from seven different countries. The foundation is a strong international player in contract clinical drug development combined with a biotech research unit.

Lawaetz is chairman of BioPheresis Technologies GmbH and Sanos Bioscience A/S, and he is board member of Exiqon A/S, Nuevolution A/S and Ultrazonix DNT AB.
