Rigele Abilock
Born 1970, MBA (M.I.T.), B.Sc., B.A. , Partner and Investment Director

Prior to joining SLS Venture in 2004, Abilock worked at H. Lundbeck A/S (Copenhagen) in Corporate Business Development. From 1998-2003, Abilock was at Maxygen, Inc. in Redwood City, California, where she headed therapeutics business development across both the California and Copenhagen sites, and served on the global therapeutics management team. At Maxygen, Abilock built major corporate partnerships representing over $350M plus royalties. She also had a substantial role in financing activities, including the company's Nasdaq IPO in 1999. During her tenure, Maxygen grew from a biotech start-up of 30 employees to a product-focused public company of 250 employees.

Prior to Maxygen, Abilock held business development and strategy positions at biotech companies Ariad Pharmaceuticals and Pangene Corporation. She also worked as an analyst at Cooley Godward LLP, a Silicon Valley law firm, as part of a specialized team representing life sciences companies in strategic alliances, financings, and IPO’s.

Abilock holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.). Her undergraduate studies are in English and Molecular Biology from Pomona College, California. She comes from Palo Alto, California.
