Thomas Brodin
Born 1953, MD, PhD, E*MBA (SIMI), Partner and Scientific Advisor
Brodin comes from a position as Investment Manager, Life Science Ventures, within the Sixth National Swedish Pension Fund, which he has held since 2001. Between 1992 and 2000, Brodin held various leading positions within the pharmaceutical R&D organisation at the Lund research centre, a research unit within Pharmacia, and P&U, which was transferred in 1998 to Active Biotech Research, a mid-sized bio/pharmaceutical R&D company.
Brodin received his MD in 1983 at the University of Lund and completed a PhD in tumour Immunology at the same university in 1988. Brodin then spent two years (1989-1991) as a visiting associate at the NIAID, NIH, Bethesda, USA, where he received training in molecular biology and infectious diseases and immunology.
Within the pharmaceutical industry, Brodin has held line function responsibilities as a group leader, section and department head within immunology and immuno-technology research areas, head of toxicology and medical director, as well as project leader for discovery research and the development of biopharmaceuticals and drug compounds in the fields of the oncology and inflammatory disease.
Brodin has published 59 papers in international peer-reviewed journals in the fields of immunology, autoimmunity, molecular biology, tumour immunology and phenotypic cell surface markers, with particular emphasis on tumour immunotherapy, tumour-associated glycoconjugates and monoclonal antibody techniques.
Brodin has submitted five patent applications within the area of phage display technology, recombinant antibody engineering, tumour immunotherapy and immunotechnology.
Brodin is board member of Angio Genetics AB.
